Happy I Read It!
Read almost any book on how to live a fulfilling life--including my own book--and you will be told that happiness is something that comes from within. It is basically a choice, and that choice is not dependent upon outside circumstances. Making that choice can be a challenge, however. There are many things that can inhibit your ability to choose happiness. And that's where HAPPY FOR NO REASON can help. In this remarkable book, Marci Shimoff not only spells out all the traits that happy people have in common, but she also provides some very specific techniques and exercises to help you get over anything that may standing in the way of your happiness. I highly recommend this wonderful and helpful book.

Not as good as it sounds....
I had seen the video "Secrets" before I read this book, hoping to find a written reference for most of the material in "Secrets". While the book starts out pretty good, and definitely has some good material in it for increasing your level of happiness, it starts to fall on lame, Pollyannish ideas from the middle of the book and beyond.

Most of the last half of the book contains a lot of "give into a higher power" pap, which requires a lot of mindlessness. I guess if you become mindless, you also will be happier. I'd rather not find out, as I like to use my mind much of the time.

Nonetheless, there are several tips in the book that would allow you to increase your level of happiness a degree or two (on a 10-point scale). Just don't expect too much, and you will be satisfied.
