LOVED IT!
He's done it again. I loved this book with all the twists and turns. It kept me interested from the first page until the last. Now I have to find another book to fill the void since I read this one so fast. More! More! More!

Touch down!
E. Lynn Harris goes all out on this one. Great work of fiction. Harris provides some true enlightenment on the behind-the-scenes game playing surrounding Black college football players with NFL dreams.
I won't spoil it and tell the story. Just get it and read it.
Since Harris' "Invisible Life", I have been a supporter of his written talent. That said, to this very date, he has yet to fail me. Touch down!

Nice Change of Pace
This was a good change of pace for Mr. Harris. Although, some of the same language from the other books was used, it was interesting to see it used in a almost completely heterosexual context. Looking forward to his next work of fiction, and the movie of one his earlier novels.

Not Good Enough
When I first learned that E. Lynn was coming out with a new book I wasn't excited as I have been in the past. I guess I had still had some residual feelings of being let down with "I Say a Little Prayer," but this review is not about that book. This novel opened my eyes to how basic his style is. There was nothing that pulled me into the story. Mr. Harris failed to create a setting that transports the reader to a place of fictional desire. When I read I read as a distraction from everyday life so I admire when an author can do so by creating an atmosphere through writing that I can sink into.

I personally don't think this was a story worth telling. I didn't get the point of why he chose to write this particular story. I have become very bored with his love for football and college life. It's almost as if he is trying to prove something with his knowledge of the game.

I feel that the story was too crowded with secrets and lies. At times it appeared as though it was a train wreck waiting to happen. It appears as though Mr. Harris wrote this story blindly, not knowing exactly where he wanted to go and how he planned to get there. It's funny how this book wasn't supposed to have a gay theme, but he wasted no opportunity to talk about the players or Brady being naked in some way. I think it was so tired to have Delmar doing what he did for cash and then we never find out what happens to him after college. Although he wasn't the main character were given enough information about him to not just be left in the dark about what happens to him.

I will always respect E. Lynn for the doors he opened for many other gay writers that we have today. I think E. Lynn's timing was perfect for what he introduced to the masses, but for me this is the second time he has missed the mark.

Maybe 3.5...
It was an okay read. It's not as good as most of his other books but I would still recommend it if you're just in the mood for reading. Definitely not bad enough to give up on him so I'm still looking forward to his next book.
