I found this book touching and intriguing. The first couple of chapters were the most vivid. I took my sweet time reading these two chapters, reflecting on the different aspects of the writer's experience 'on the other side'. I really enjoyed reading for a bit and then thinking on it for a while before returning for more. I would recommend doing the same, I was so happy not to rush through this section of the book. He may have had 90 minutes in heaven, but reading this part of the book slowly, I had several days 'in heaven'! The rest of the book describes his journey toward healing on the inside and outside. It's a good book! 2008-10-22

My mother passed away 2 months ago today and it has been a most devasting time in my life. I just finsihed Don Piper's book today and I have a total feeling of joy, peace and excitement for what's to come. My devastation has turned to an unbelievable calm I know my mother's love will be waiting for me for I know she is with God and Heaven is a "beautiful place." Don's story somehow has taken away my grief and turned it to hope. I can't wait to share this book with my father who is grieving horribly. This book has changed my life and I hope to share it with so many who have experienced death and loss. 2008-10-20

SELECTIONS FROM: 90 Minutes in Heaven: An Inspiring Story of Life beyond Death
An amazing account of a real life happening in the life of Don Piper. This man was actually declared dead. In spite of that a minister came along to the scene of the accident and laid his hand on Don's shoulder and began to pray for him. Towards the end of the time he prayed, the minister began to sing a hymn and Don began to sing along. Although it was so hard to believe that Don had indeed started singing, the EMTs came along and managed to get him out of the car he was trapped in and his journey to his life today began. This book is a MUST read and is very hard to put down. Find out for yourself the purpose behind this amazing event in the life of this man. You won't forget it or fail to be impressed. 2008-10-18

I read this book and find it interesting. The point is that there IS a Heaven where the souls of the just go. The reward as to what each receives,is dependant on the life of the person, and so no one can really know even the smallest ecstacy that the beautific vision will grant.
The small glimpse, which can never be described by man,is at the least, thought provoking. 2008-10-12

This book is written by Don Piper, a pastor from Texas. It tells the story of his wreck in 1989, and his subsequent "visit" to heaven. The title of the book is almost misleading. There is only one short chapter devoted to his time in heaven; the rest of the book is spent reliving his time rehabbing his various injuries and the effect that the accident and "visit" had on his spiritual life.
I keep referring to his "visit" in quotations because I don't think he actually died or went to heaven. I know this makes me a faithless unbeliever, but I the facts just don't add up. First of all, he was declared dead by EMTs that worked for the prison system. I'm not sure how much experience they would have had in accidents. Also, EMTs don't have authority to declare deaths. So he was never officially declared dead. The second issue I have is that he never actually went into heaven. The title should be 90 Minutes Right Outside of Heaven. He just has a meeting with relatives that have died before. I feel as if maybe this was all a hallucination as a result of the shock from the severe injuries he incurred. The positive of this book is that it has inspired others to become closer to God. I personally don't believe that Piper went to heaven and came back to Earth. There is a lot of Biblical evidence to prove that this isn't possible. However, I am not going to say that miracles like this can't happen. I don't know everything. I just don't think it happened in this case. I don't think Piper ever died. If you want a sugarcoated book about Christianity, this would be a good read. I don't think it will really harm anyone, as no one is going to want to have a wreck that will maim them for life just for a short vision of heaven. But I wouldn't spend too much money on a book that really doesn't help your spiritual walk. 2008-10-07
