![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Beautiful story of a brave man
When I went to my hairdresser, he was reading "90 Minutes In Heaven" and when I asked him about it, he told me he felt it was a good book but hadn't finished reading it yet. I liked the title so ordered the book and enjoyed it very much. The author's description of heaven gave me a feeling of peace. Even though he is a man of great faith, he endured many painful trials. The fact that he survived at all is a miracle. I would describe this as a wonderful story of faith and courage and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not What I Expected
This book is a synapse of the original full-lentgh book. It was not as good as other accounts I have read of near-death experiences. I felt as if the book was written to advance a religious point-of-view. 2008-09-05
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What is heaven really like?
A man who wrote this book is a baptist priest. He also happened to be in a devastating car accident, hurt so badly that the paramedics on the scene of the accident declared him dead. Incidentally, his colleague comes into a car wreck and prays for him. 90 minutes later, Don Piper starts singing church song with his fellow priest and is escorted to a hospital for an emergency surgery. Author describes his 90 minutes of clinical death that took him to heaven. His recall will be comforting for people of Christian faith - there are old friends, family and angels around. Bliss is everywhere and the entire unison is praising and singing to God. Life in Heaven has no time and hardship is erased from its inhabitants' faces. Although Don never saw Jesus or God, he was convinced they were there, taking care of him and everyone else. However, it was not his time to go to Heaven, so Don comes back to earth to struggle with his extended hospital stay, numerous surgeries, financial and emotional hardship that the experience has for him and his family. Physically and emotionally, Don is not the same person he once was, but he discovers a new purpose in his life: he is helping people with similar painful surgeries overcome fear, pain and failed expectations. With his congregation and thru public speaking he shares his experiences of heaven with terminally ill and sick. Don is convinced that his story about his experience in heaven will help people on their trip to another dimension. I had a problem with Don's vision of heaven. For I could not imagine a heaven as endless procession of people that marked my life. Surely, there must be animals, plants, books and music other than just hymns to God that one can encouter in heaven. Could it be that we all enter our own heaven when we die? The kind of world that makes eternity bearable, pleasant and kind? Surely, God is kind to take all people of all faiths into his heaven and lets us connect not only with people that we loved and cared about, but also we get to meet people we admired from afar - a poet whose poem changed our life, a musician whose music opened our soul, a peacekeeper who selfless sacrifice benefited the people on earth at his or her own time a leader who saved a nation... Many people Don comes across during his public speaking appearances are afraid not to end up in Hell and they want to experience Heaven at all cost. For people who do not believe in Hell, this book is just not the one; and so it is for people not Christian. While it is admirable that man of faith embraces his faith wholeheartedly - it is also sad tha Mr. Piper's experience is geared solely to Christian audiences only. Surely God and heavens are greater than that, if for no other reason but the fact that God is all inlclusive and favors all creatures. Thsi book will not appeal to everyone but so many people, it may bring a lot of comfort. 2008-09-02
